Accessibility Features for People with Disabilities

The IRS and SBA are committed to making products accessible to the widest possible audience. Basic navigation using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) files are included on this CD. These files are considered accessible for persons using screen reading devices and refreshable Braille displays.

The IRS uses Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) as a format for distributing federal government forms, instructions and publications. Tax forms, instructions, and publications contained on this CD are provided in PDF. To view PDF documents you must have Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader. You may install Adobe Reader 8.1.2 from this CD. A number of IRS Publications are also provided in HTML and are available in the Tax Map application on this CD.

Tax products in the PDF format are electronic versions of the IRS printed products and sometimes do not lend themselves well to non-graphical presentation. However, the IRS Alternative Media Center (AMC) is providing the most popular tax forms, instructions, and tax publications using full text descriptions as “talking PDF forms.” The IRS AMC also prepares files in ASCII text format, HTML, enhanced PDF, and/or transcribed files for Braille. All IRS tax forms are available in this format and can be completed using screen reading software and refreshable Braille displays. In addition, they may be completed using Dragon Naturally Speaking voice recognition software. These files are available for download through the IRS web site under Accessible IRS Tax Products . You may also use Adobe Systems, Inc. free translation service provided on their www.adobe.com/accessibility web page.
