Pollution prevention, or P2, encompasses all activities that reduce or eliminate waste. These activities include efficiency improvements related to the use of raw materials, energy and water, and conservation of natural resources. It also targets reducing any releases of pollutants into the environment (prior to treatment or disposal), including fugitive missions and non-point source pollution.

P2 can dramatically reduce business costs for energy, waste treatment and disposal, but there are other savings as well.
